Blue Thistle Fibers is a small-batch, naturally dyed fiber company offering Socks, DK, and Woven wool yarn in a SW Merino/Nylon blend and 100% SW Merino. Our color palette reflects the colors of the forests, sky, rocks, and rivers that surround us in our home state—the wild and wonderful West Virginia.
From the roots of my grandmother’s teachings to the months-long patrols during my military service, knitting has soothed me and helped me focus during stressful times. I love making knit garments, especially using unique colors. So much so that I opened my own dye company in my hometown of Huntington, West Virginia.
Now, I’m excited to offer you Appalachian hand-dyed yarns crafted with love and passion for your creative projects. Explore our small-batch naturally dyed fibers and unlock infinite possibilities for your knitting creations. Let Blue Thistle Fibers be your gateway to a world of colorful inspiration.
You can find our yarn online at bluethistfibers.com. We love sharing our colorways and how people use our yarn on our social media @bluethistlefibers on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest. We also provide bespoke dye batches if you have a particular project — connect with us via email at clare@bluethistlefibers.com. We are always looking for connections with knitters, crocheters, dyers, spinners, weavers, and, of course, sheep farmers! We’d love to source our wool from local sheep and support local fiber crafters and artists.
