Crown Hill Farm is a woman-owned working farm in Eden, New York, where I raise sheep, poultry, vegetables, herbs, flowers, and natural dye plants.

Fiber is a central part of my farm work. I raise heritage breed sheep for wool, work with a small-scale mill to have their fiber processed into yarn, and do all of the natural dyeing myself. I also grow natural dye plants and offer dye plant starts in the spring, along with completed naturally hand-dyed yarns as they are available.

My farm practices are hands-on, practical, and grounded in thoughtful stewardship. I grow without chemical sprays and focus on heritage breeds, heirloom and open-pollinated varieties, and materials that have a clear connection to land, animals, plants, and season.

Alongside the fiber work, I grow food and host farm events that connect people with what is grown, raised, cooked, eaten, worn, and used in daily life. “Mindfully grown” is the phrase I use for this larger approach. It applies to both food and fiber, and to the choices we make around how things are produced, valued, and brought into community.

Education is also a significant part of my work. I teach and share about farm fiber, natural dye, heritage breeds, mindfully grown food, and the realities of building a small farm business. With a background in both farming and entrepreneurship, I often find myself bridging conversations between fiber farmers, food farmers, local agriculture, and small business.

I do not see fiber as separate from farming. Sheep, wool, dye plants, vegetables, eggs, farm events, and education are all part of a larger agricultural picture. Through Crown Hill Farm, I work to help make fiber more visible within that picture, while continuing to build a farm that is useful, beautiful, practical, and deeply connected to place.
